Boycrush’s Filming Style - The Method Behind the Madness

There’s always been a discussion amongst our fans about the way our videos are shot. For anyone who has both a Boycrush Subscription and one with a competitor, even the most inexperienced movie critic will notice that (with videos made in the last several years) there’s a night and day difference when it comes to showing transitions between positions and keeping camera sounds, wobbles, and zooms. This has very little to do with filming with two cameras because, as you’ll see with the solos, I film those completely by myself but in the same style as the hardcore scenes. I could do the same with hardcores, it just saves times and gives you a much wider diversity of shots. What it does have a lot to do with, is how many shots the cameramen are getting. Phillip and I are constantly moving around each other to get new shots while most pornographers will use one camera to film a long clip, use a video dissolve, and then attach the next long clip which is usually made up of a wide shot moving to a penetration or face shot. Now I’m not saying that those pornographers are just being lazy, they understand that with twinks time is of the essence (which I’ll explain in the next paragraph), however with that style you get less than half the shots you would normally.

I consider the more closeups, grand wides, and shots of the hottest parts of the action that you have, the better the scene is and the better it flows. We leave all the transitions in because, otherwise you don’t get shots of the dick exiting the ass and models moving to other positions to cum or put the dick back in. Everyone has their own specific likes; we try to make our videos complete so there’s something for everyone.

That’s the whole idea anyway.

I’ve filmed everything from Jocks on Jocks, Daddies on Twinks, to BDSM Twink on Twink porn and there is a definite difference between the models’ experience and acting abilities. Twinks are inexperienced most of the time and even the ones who are experienced need to be told to make noise, say things, etc. One of the worst side-effects of twink porn is the “library-style” audio you get with twinks who keep their sex as quiet as possible. They’re too focused on what they’re doing to remember to be vocal. Also, I dont think its in most twink’s nature to be as vocal as older models. In manyDad on Twink Phoenixxx Scenes, Alexsander Frietas and David Chase (among others) are constantly telling their scene partners to “get their ass up” or asking them “if they like that dick.” I have to basically tell 80% of twink models to even say “lets fuck” before the first position. It’s one of the things we’re working on to improve, however all of the above is the reason that time is important when filming these scenes. Aside from less experience, they also perform better the more the video continues without stopping. The less breaks we take, the more the boys can get into it and keep the passion high (which is something everyone likes).

That’s why it’s important for us to film the way we do. It’s not just about getting a set number of positions plus two cumshots. It’s about helping the boys gain experience and improve their performance through careful direction and without stopping so much and losing their focus. Beleive it or not, these boys occasionally get frustrated with themselves, get self-conscious, and even psych themselves out to a point where they can’t perform well. Those are things you definitely don’t see so much in edited videos (for the obvious reason that it’s the opposite of what we want the feel to be) but they’re also things that we deal with among twink models. Its what makes twink porn so good, though. There’s not so much acting and stuff as there is real-life action. When you see models getting into it, its real. They’re not experienced enough to fake it ;).

In the past year, I’ve spent a lot of time working to improve our videos and continue improving on the way we film them and work with models. Bryan (who started the site) always filmed basically in this way and usually just had the boys do their thing while filming it real-time. I think we’ve come a long way and although very rarely we’ll get a complaint about something, I think that the alternative is worse. If we film sloppily, edit sloppily or let our models act sloppy then why would our fans consider us any better than someone’s homemade xtube video?

As we continue to add new content (and create a brand new site we’ve started working on), we’ll continue to improve on these things that continue to set us apart from our competitors and other porn companies in the industry. It’s what we’re all about.
